The Telnyx integration imports call detail records (CDR), creates customers from your Telnyx billing groups and creates their connections and phone numbers as services. Resellers using Telnyx Managed Accounts get two-level (wholesale and retail) billing set up automatically. This page lists what you provide; PracBill configures the import.
| Action | Detail |
|---|---|
| Import CDR | Call records are pulled automatically and matched to the right customer. |
| Sync customers | Each Billing Group in a Managed Account becomes a PracBill customer. |
| Track services | Connections and phone numbers are created as services on that customer. |
| Wholesale billing | With Managed Accounts, CDR imports into the reseller's department; customers and services are created in the child department with wholesale-linked service types, so both parties bill correctly. |
| Detect new accounts | A Managed Account PracBill has not seen triggers an email so it can be onboarded. |
| Email notifications | A customer auto-created from a billing group triggers an email to the department's billing address for review. |
You will hand PracBill:
| Item | Where from |
|---|---|
| Master V2 API key | Your master (manager) Telnyx account. Used to discover Managed Accounts only. |
| A V2 API key per Managed Account | Each Managed Account. The master key cannot read their connections, billing groups, numbers or call records. |
| Billing group names per Managed Account | Billing > Billing Groups inside each Managed Account. |
If you restrict key permissions, each key needs at least:
| Permission | Access | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Detail Records | Read | Import call records |
| Connections | Read | Discover SIP trunks and connections |
| Billing Groups | Read | Map the billing structure |
| Phone Numbers | Read | Associate DIDs with customers |
| Managed Accounts | Read | Discover managed accounts (master key only) |
If in doubt, a full-access read-only key is simplest.
PracBill Integration.KEY followed by a long string, e.g. KEY019C45A6....PracBill Integration and copy the key.| Managed Account name | V2 API key |
|---|---|
| (account name) | KEY... |
Each Billing Group becomes one customer.
| Managed Account | Billing group name | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| (account name) | (billing group name) | |
| (account name) | None | Single billing group: all connections grouped together |
A Managed Account with one billing group has every connection assigned to it, even connections not explicitly linked in Telnyx. An account with no billing groups needs at least one created, or customers cannot be mapped.
A connection with no billing group in an account that has several billing groups is reported in the import log instead of creating a customer. Assign it in Telnyx and it is picked up on the next sync.
The auto-created customer has only the company name. When the email arrives, open the customer and add address, contacts and billing preferences.
Each connection is matched to a service type from its CDR usage. These are created on first import:
| Service type | Category |
|---|---|
| SIP Trunking, Call Control, Conference, Fax, WebRTC, SIPREC Client, AI Voice Assistant, Wireless | Voice |
| Messaging | SMS |
| Recording, Media Streaming, Media Storage | Media |
| AMD (Answering Machine Detection), Embedding, Inference, Speech to Text, Noise Suppression, STT (Speech to Text), TTS (Text to Speech) | AI |
| Verify | Security |
With Managed Accounts, PracBill builds this structure:
Your PracBill department (parent)
+-- Reseller customer (e.g. "Acme Reseller")
| +-- Wholesale engineering records (auto-created)
|
+-- Child department (linked to the reseller customer)
+-- Customer A (from Billing Group A)
| +-- Connections and phone numbers as services
+-- Customer B (from Billing Group B)
+-- Connections and phone numbers as services
You never create services in two places. A new connection or number in Telnyx creates services at both levels.
| Action | Detail |
|---|---|
| CDR import | Call records fetched and stored for billing. |
| New connection detection | New connections linked to the right customer. |
| New phone number detection | Numbers on connections created as services. |
| New billing group detection | Customer created, email sent. |
| Unknown Managed Account alert | Email sent, throttled to once per account every 3 days. |
| Wholesale record sync | Matching wholesale services created in the parent department. |
PracBill flags a new Managed Account as unknown on the next sync and emails you (one alert per account every 3 days). No CDR is imported for it until it is onboarded. For each new account:
PracBill Integration so they are easy to find.| Issue | Cause | Resolution |
